Speech Therapy
Speech-language pathologists (SLP) diagnose and treat communication and swallowing disorders in children and adults. The difficulties that one experiences may be a result of neurological disorders, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, physical problems, voice pathology, hearing impairments, and emotional disorders. SLP evaluations may address dysphagia (swallowing), dysarthria (slurred speech), and/or vocal quality concerns.
Common conditions treated include:
  • Inability to produce sounds/lack clarity
  • Rhythm and fluency difficulties
  • Voice disorders
  • Difficulty producing or understanding language
  • Modifying an accent
  • Feeding and/or swallowing difficulty
  • Cognitive-linguistic disorders

SLP therapy may include:

  • Education on vocal hygiene
  • Use of Visi-Pitch equipment for voice
  • Breathing exercises
  • Oral motor exercises
  • Neuromuscular electrical stimulation for swallowing (i.e. Vital Stim, if warranted)
  • Recommendations of the safest, least restrictive food/liquid consistencies
  • Safe swallow techniques
My son has been coming here for speech therapy for exactly a year and has made so much progress. I am so thankful for all of the help we have received here. I wouldn't change a thing.
